Statement of Purpose:
This Psych Up/Calm Down video is my interpretation of Group 2’s rubric. This video reflects current and future tools I utilize when facing stressful professional situations such as an interview or my first day on the job. I wanted to address both topics as I tend to run more on the anxious side, but I also find myself looking for reminders to be excited about my prospective opportunities.
Throughout this video, I chose upbeat music to set a steady pace for the information provided and tried to keep the projection of my voice even. During the editing process, I ensured I had smooth transitions visually and verbally to follow along with the ‘feel-good’ aesthetic that I created.
A big part of this assignment for me was the attitude I put out. I wanted to keep it energetic and project a positive image during the video to encourage my future self and other viewers. The goal was to demonstrate the influence that body language can have on others. I maintained eye contact with the camera, threw some jokes in there, and overall, had a good time creating this project. I included reasoning behind my techniques much as Cross Body Movement for your brain and practicing interview questions beforehand to boost confidence.
Through my personal anecdotes, I wanted to remind myself of the challenging aspects of my work experience. When I reflect back on it, I want to start thinking about how I handled that situation and what I may do differently now. While I only mention my time as a Coach, there is plenty to reflect on during my time in the restaurant industry and my social media internship at UNE.
I hope watching this video reminds us all to have confidence in ourselves and that preparation goes a long way.
